Triumph has unveiled its new cruiser, the 2010 Triumph Thunderbird 1600. And will be released  early in this summer 2009.

The Thunderbird 1600′s engine capacity is a bridging the Triumph’s smaller displacement cruisers and the the giant Rocket III, a liquid-cooled 1599cc DOHC Parallel Twin fuel injected. With 103.8 x 94.3mm of bore and stroke it has at least 80 hp and 100 lb-ft of torque. To drive engine energy to the rear wheel are used a belt drive and six-speed transmission.

The chassis includes cast aluminum five-spoke wheels mated to a tubular steel frame and swingarm. Showa suspension components are sourced, 47mm fork up front and chromed spring shocks out back with five-position preload adjustable.

Braking for the new cruiser is dual 310mm with 4-piston Nissin calipers on the front, and a single 310mm rotor with 2-piston Brembo caliper. For best braking performance will be offered ABS  as an option.

A 5.5-gallon fuel tank also houses the instrument cluster, with speedometer, tachometer and LCD display. Self-cancelling turn signals will be also utilized by 2010 Triumph Thunderbird 1600.

These Triumph cruiser will be directly competitor for the Twin Cam Harley-Davidson. Unfortunately the price has not been announced by Triumph.
